Well-Being Committee

The Well-Being Committee supports and promotes the holistic health and well-being of all BIDS employees, so that they may provide excellent legal services, be sustained, and find fulfillment in doing difficult work while living healthy lives. We accomplish this by:

  • collecting and sharing data about employee well-being and satisfaction,

  • advocating for systemic improvements, and

  • providing opportunities for personal connection and support.

In the Spring of 2020, two public defenders within the agency saw a need to form a support structure for their colleagues. Out of that need, the BIDS Well-Being Committee was born.

The Well-Being Committee consists of attorneys and staff from within the public defender system. In addition to sponsoring agency-wide initiatives, the Well-Being Committee also conducts an annual survey to assess how well the agency is meeting employee well-being needs. You can read the survey conclusions from each year below.
